Ruck Spine and SportS

Welcome to Ruck Spine and Sport

20+ years of teaching patients how to safely manage symptoms, stay strong, avoid unnecessary interventions, and most importantly, keep them doing what they love. Not sure if it's the right fit? Give me a call and we'll talk it over.

Your First Visit

Here is a clear breakdown of what to expect. Prior to scheduling, I encourage a phone call so we can have a brief discussion about your case. 914-844-7712

01

History

We'll dive a little beyond the symptoms so I can gain a better understanding of your lifestyle, goals, past injury and medical history, and current activity and stress levels to try to piece together a plan to troubleshoot your pain or injury.

02

Examination

Based on your history, we'll perform an  exam which largely consists of observing  how you move and function. If at any time during our interaction, I feel you  would be better served by another provider,  I will provide you with an appropriate referral.

03

My goals for patients are the following:

  • Help you stay strong and functional, even in the presence of symptoms.

  • Teach you self-management skills.

  •  Empower you to play an active role in your recovery.

  • Come up with a plan to achieve your fitness/hobby/sports goals.

Common Questions

Do I need a referral to see a chiropractor?

Chiropractors are primary contact practitioners, meaning you can book an appointment directly. You do not need a referral to schedule an appointment.

What should I expect during my first visit?

Your first visit involves a comprehensive assessment of your medical history, current concerns, and goals. We perform a physical exam focused on movement and function to create a personalized rehab plan tailored to your lifestyle.

Do you accept my insurance?

My practice is out of network with insurance. As per your request, a superbill will be created for you to submit to your plan. Typically, an out of network deductible must be met before you receive reimbursement. Payment is due at time of service in the form of cash, check, or credit card.

WIll I need to get X-Rays?

I do not take routine X-Rays in my office. If I feel that X-Rays are warranted, I will give you a prescription to a local radiology facility.

X-Rays of most people over the age of 30 will show abnormalities which are completely normal. Unfortunately, these abnormalities are sometimes used as scare tactics to push unnecessary treatments. In addition, it has been shown that there is poor correlation between X-Ray findings and symptoms.

How are you different and why should I see you?

A frequent comment from patients (which I take as a compliment) is that they don’t know how to describe me to others. It’s a compliment because I don’t subscribe to any one school of thought regarding musculoskeletal injuries.  I just try to do what’s right. Sometimes this looks like a physical therapist, sometimes like a chiropractor, sometimes like a trainer or coach. If you are unsure about consulting with me, please reach out. We’ll have a phone conversation to determine if it’s the right match. 914-844-7712.

How long to treatments take?

Plan on 75 to 90 minutes for the initial session and 50-60 for follow ups.
